Made of found scrap pieces of Brazilian Ipe and White Oak, this Flatpack Table combines delicate friction-fit joinery, live edged pieces, and flexibility through an elaborate design through prototyping process. Comprised of glued frames and four wedges along with the table top, the table packs down to a flatter assembly making it easier to transport or even evolve over time. The process of designing through prototypes and sketches in included in the following spreads as it is as important as the final product. This process was actually in direct relation to the development of my architecture thesis project; it brought with it a lot of introspection and exploration into my passion of detailing and working with my hands. The proposed thesis delved into our connetion to history through taking care of our tools. My interest in preservation through care takes the form of routine use and upkeep/ and continues to inspire my interest in adaptive reuse projects and adding layers to inherited history.
